Magic of Persia (MOP) is delighted to announce its highly anticipated return to Dubai with the Nowrouz Auction Gala in the presence of HE Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan.
Following the success of the ‘Magical Nights’ fundraising auctions in the UAE, the ‘Bridge of Persia’ fundraising auction in London, and the ‘MOP 10 Year Anniversary’ fundraiser in the US, the Nowrouz Auction Gala will take place in March 2015 to coincide with both Art Dubai and the Iranian New Year.
Celebrated contemporary Iranian artists from both their home nation and the worldwide Iranian Diaspora, as well as internationally recognised non-Iranian artists, have donated notable artworks to support MOP’s cause; Siah Armajani, Pooya Aryanpour, Lalla Essaydi, Nicky Nodjoumi, Parviz Tanavoli have all donated artwork to the auction conducted by Christie’s.
As with all of the MOP fundraising events held in the UAE to date, HE Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Social Development in the UAE, a long-standing supporter and patron of the charity, will be in attendance as the keynote speaker. A Ladies’ Private View, in the presence of HH Sheikha Shamma Bint Khalifa Bin Hamdan Al Nahayan, will be held from 2:00-5:00pm.
The star-studded event will feature an exclusive concert by Iranian Pop, Shahram , whose beloved music will ring in the new year 1394. The event will be elaborately themed by the unparalleled Ali Bakhtiar of Bakhtiar Designs.
Funds raised from the auction of the donated artwork will be dedicated to the MOP Art and Education program and selected arts and humanitarian causes including: Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, Dubai; Future Centre for Special Needs, Abu Dhabi; Artist lectures and seminars, British Museum, London; Artist Residencies, Delfina Foundation, London; Master of Research Curatorial/Knowledge, Goldsmiths College, London; Education workshops and residency, Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art, London; Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize (MOP CAP) 2015.
