Shadi Ghadirian is considered to be one of Iran’s most celebrated and important artists whose photographs of the late 1990s helped changing perceptions of how Iranian art and contemporary society was perceived. Today, she is known for being one of the most unique Iranian photographers who established a special style that has been followed and has inspired many other artists.
A retrospective of the works of Shadi Ghadirian will be held in the prestigious Lyon Municipal Library, one of the most important cultural centers that have played an important role over the years in promoting arts and culture with a special attention to photography.
Shadi Ghadirian was born in 1974 in Tehran, Iran. Throughout her professional career, she has exhibited extensively around the world. Her works have been featured in some of the world’s most important print and digital media such as New York Times, Photography Now, The Daily Telegraph and BBC. Her works are also part of important collections globally including The British Museum in London, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Smithsonian Museum in Washington, Mumok (Museum Moderner Kunst Sitftung Ludwig) in Vienna, Musée d’Art
This retrospective is the result of collaboration between Lyon Municipal Library and Tehran’s Silk Road Gallery. The director of the Silk Road Gallery Anahita Ghabaian is the associate curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition will be cotinue up to ۹ January 2016 in Lyon Municipal Library, France.
